Judged Show 6/23/2013

On Sunday, June 23, 2013 our Queens County Region put on the Northeast National meet once again held at the historic Rock Hall Museum in Lawrence, NY. The grounds included craft and food vendors and free admission to tour the eighteenth century homestead of the Hewlett-Martin families.

Rock Hall and Hagerty sponsored the show and supplied “goodie” bags containing dash plaques.

The twenty-two cars for judging were arranged into a circle on the lawn. With help from our team captains Sebastian D’Agostino and Gene McCoy and Tony Vitale with intake, the judging began with Jim Woods, Ed Ginnegar and Tony Vitale checking out the vehicles.

Russell Heim (Assistant chief judge) and Paul Parnes (Chief Judge) spearheaded the decisions and after the final tabulations the winners were:

The 8 cylinder class award went to Hank Sarno for his ‘76 Chevelle Convertible

The 6 cylinder award went to Mark Zuckerman with his ‘32 Eagle Sport Coupe

Best commercial went to Dr Fred Young with his ‘51 Model 3600 pick-up

The HPOCF award went to Fred Kossen with his 1978 Z28 coupe.

Trophies, Ovals and tabs as well as certificates were also given out.

While those activities were going on, the side lawns were filling up with an assortment of different old cars from the ‘30’s through the ‘80’s. Toward the end of the show Rock Hall awarded their three Peoples Choice trophies among these cars.

The acting emcee for the event was WBAB radio.
